Vattenrosorna i Hälsingegårdarna (work in progress)
In the World Heritage Site of the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland, water roses grow with each passing year. Moisture from outside creeps into the houses and out through the hand-painted walls. In the marbling of the linen and cardboard wallpaper, the rippling edges of the water roses flow out and seem almost contrived in the already organic pattern. The water-based paints run like raindrops in the landscape paintings on the wooden panels. In the flower-covered stencil paintings spreads a new kind of flower.
The water roses are beautiful and at the same time ominous, a sign of decay and ongoing climate change.
